Introduction
Welcome to LyricFloat. These Terms of Use (“Terms”) form a legally binding contract between you (“you,” “your,” or “user”) and LyricFloat (“LyricFloat,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), governing your access to and use of the LyricFloat desktop software, the LyricFloat companion browser extension, the LyricFloat website located at lyricfloat.com, and any associated activation, download, and device-management services (collectively, the “Software” or “Services”).
By downloading, installing, activating, accessing, or using any part of LyricFloat, or by completing a purchase on our website or checkout platform, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms in their entirety, you must not purchase, install, copy, or use LyricFloat.
Please read these Terms carefully. They explain important details about your one-time purchase, the scope of your software license, our two-device activation limit, how synchronization operates, our relationship with external content and platforms, and your legal rights as a consumer.
About LyricFloat
LyricFloat is a desktop software application and companion browser integration designed to display synchronized, floating lyrics on your computer screen while you listen to music or watch video content on supported platforms. The software includes an always-on-top transparent overlay, customizable visual presentation styles (such as typography, alignment, size, and display modes), an authenticated local communication bridge between the browser extension and the desktop client, and automated alignment technology that pairs active playback with available synchronized lyric data.
LyricFloat operates as a personal listening and display utility. It is not a music streaming service, does not host or re-broadcast audio recordings or video files, does not maintain a proprietary media locker, and does not sell music or original recordings. LyricFloat helps you follow along with music you are already playing through your own authorized accounts or browser sessions on third-party services.
One-Time Purchase
LyricFloat is offered as a one-time purchase. When you purchase a LyricFloat license under the current commercial offer, you pay a single, upfront purchase price that grants you a personal, perpetual software license for the purchased version and its designated maintenance updates, subject to these Terms.
You will not automatically be charged monthly, quarterly, or annually for the LyricFloat license purchased under this offer. Purchasing the current LyricFloat license does not create any recurring subscription, ongoing membership fee, or hidden renewal charge. Your transaction is complete upon the initial payment confirmation.
Summary: One payment only. No monthly billing, no annual recurring invoices, and no automated recurring withdrawals from your payment method.
Two-Device License & Browser Pairing
Each standard LyricFloat purchase includes a software license that may be concurrently active on up to two (2) personal computer devices at the same time. This limit allows a single customer to use LyricFloat comfortably across common personal setups, such as a desktop workstation and a personal laptop.
Physical Computer Limit
The two-device limit applies to simultaneous, active physical computer installations. You may not activate a single license key or customer purchase email on three or more computers concurrently without purchasing an additional license. If you attempt to activate LyricFloat on a third computer while two active devices are already registered, the activation system will prompt you to manage your devices or deactivate an existing machine before the new installation can proceed.
Browser Pairing and Multi-Profile Use
On an activated computer, LyricFloat allows you to pair up to ten (10) browser or profile clients (for instance, personal, work, and secondary profiles across Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Brave). Browser profile pairing operates locally via the desktop application’s authenticated local bridge. Pairing multiple browsers or profiles on the same activated computer does not consume additional device activation slots on your license. These are separate limits: a browser pairing is not a physical computer activation.
Device Reallocation
You retain the flexibility to reallocate your activations as your hardware changes. If you replace a computer, format an operating system, or retire an older machine, you can deactivate the older device using LyricFloat’s self-service device management portal and subsequently activate your new computer within your two-device allowance.
License Use
Subject to your continuous compliance with these Terms and your timely payment of the applicable purchase price, LyricFloat grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to download, install, activate, and execute the object code version of the LyricFloat desktop software and companion browser extension for your personal, non-commercial use on up to two (2) supported devices owned or controlled by you.
This license does not convey any ownership interest, title, or intellectual property rights in LyricFloat to you. All rights not expressly granted to you in these Terms are strictly reserved by LyricFloat and its licensors. You may not lease, lend, sell, redistribute, sublicense, commercially exploit, or publicly broadcast the software, nor may you use the software in a commercial venue or automated public exhibition without separate prior written permission from LyricFloat.
Lyrics and Synchronization
LyricFloat is designed to discover, retrieve, align, and present synchronized lyrics matching music tracks played through supported platforms. The application relies on matching algorithms that analyze title, artist, playback duration, and time-stamped lyric records retrieved directly from third-party lyric, metadata, or caption sources.
Lyric availability, language coverage, and timing accuracy naturally vary across songs, genres, regions, and playback sources. While LyricFloat strives to present precise line-by-line and word-timed synchronization for popular catalog tracks, we cannot guarantee that synchronized lyrics will exist or be retrievable for every song, obscure release, regional recording, instrumental piece, podcast, or newly uploaded video. Lyrics may be unavailable because of source availability, version matching, synchronization confidence, or other limitations. A No Lyrics result does not necessarily indicate a software malfunction.
To ensure high visual quality and protect you from distracting or misleading text, LyricFloat incorporates conservative matching criteria and automated consensus evaluation. When LyricFloat cannot establish a sufficiently confident match between your active playback and a synchronized lyric candidate, the software will intentionally return a clean “No Lyrics” or idle state rather than presenting out-of-sync, mismatched, or inaccurate words. This behavior is an intentional quality and reliability safeguard, not a product defect or software malfunction.
Different Song and Video Versions
Music tracks frequently exist in numerous distinct audio and video releases, each with unique timing, pacing, introductions, and structural characteristics. A single musical composition may be published as:
- An original studio album master;
- An official music video featuring extended visual intros, dialogue skits, dramatic pauses, or closing credits;
- An official or community-created lyric video;
- A live concert recording with crowd noise, spoken interludes, tempo variations, or extended instrumental solos;
- An acoustic, orchestral, or unplugged rendition;
- A remix, club mix, radio edit, or sped-up / slowed-down audio edit;
- A cover version performed by another artist or creator; or
- A community-uploaded video with altered pitch, background sound, or user-edited audio timing.
Because synchronized lyric data is typically created against specific studio masters or reference audio tracks, differences in track length, intro silence, or arrangement can cause synchronization offsets or prevent automated matching entirely. Where possible, LyricFloat applies intelligent duration tolerance, caption verification, and timeline offsets, but synchronization cannot always be guaranteed when playback deviates from recognized reference masters.
Third-Party Services
To deliver its core features, LyricFloat interacts with third-party lyric repositories, online metadata providers, web browsers, and music streaming platforms. These third-party services provide essential data feeds, including lyric lines, timing timestamps, artist discographies, album artwork, and playback telemetry.
You acknowledge that third-party services are owned, governed, and operated completely independently by their respective providers. LyricFloat does not operate, control, supervise, or endorse external lyric databases or media hosts. Your use of third-party platforms remains subject to each provider’s independent terms of service, privacy practices, and platform policies.
External Service Availability
LyricFloat works in coordination with supported third-party music, lyric, metadata, and internet infrastructure services. From time to time, these external services may experience server outages, network congestion, technical maintenance, rate-limiting restrictions, data schema updates, API retirements, or geographic availability changes that can temporarily affect certain LyricFloat features.
When practical and technically feasible, LyricFloat may update its technical implementations, adapt its network queries, deploy patch releases, or incorporate alternative compatible sources to preserve continuous functionality. However, because external services are operated independently, LyricFloat does not control third-party infrastructure and cannot guarantee uninterrupted access to third-party data feeds, nor can we promise a specific repair timeframe when an independent provider experiences technical disruptions.
LyricFloat is responsible for the maintenance and engineering of its own proprietary codebase, but is not contractually or legally obligated to repair, maintain, or replace third-party systems that are modified, discontinued, or restricted by independent third-party operators.
Supported Playback Services
LyricFloat currently offers integration with popular web and desktop playback environments, which may include YouTube, YouTube Music, and Spotify playback sessions. Support for these specific services is provided for convenience through compatible browser extension listeners, standard media session APIs, or operating system integrations.
LyricFloat is an independent software application developed by its own engineering team. LyricFloat is not sponsored, endorsed, affiliated with, certified by, or operated by Google LLC, YouTube LLC, Spotify AB, or any of their parent, subsidiary, or affiliate corporations. All product and service names, trademarks, registered trademarks, service marks, and brand logos remain the exclusive property of their respective owners.
Compatibility with supported playback services depends on those platforms maintaining accessible web interfaces and media signaling standards. If a third-party service significantly alters its web player architecture, restricts browser extension observation, or deploys technical measures that inhibit lyric extraction, LyricFloat will endeavor to release compatibility updates where viable, but cannot guarantee perpetual integration if a platform chooses to close its ecosystem.
Internet Connection
Active internet connectivity is required to access primary LyricFloat features, including license verification, initial device activation, downloading installation packages via Cloudflare R2, receiving software updates, accessing the device-management portal, and fetching synchronized lyric data in real time.
You are solely responsible for obtaining and maintaining all computer hardware, operating system software, web browser environments, network connections, and internet access necessary to use LyricFloat. LyricFloat is not responsible for data charges, bandwidth caps, carrier fees, ISP restrictions, firewall blocks, or network latency that may impede software download, activation, or lyric delivery.
Software Updates
From time to time, LyricFloat may develop and release software updates, maintenance releases, patches, bug fixes, synchronization refinements, performance optimizations, user interface enhancements, security improvements, or updated integration adapters (collectively, “Updates”). Updates help ensure that LyricFloat continues to operate smoothly alongside modern operating systems, web browser revisions, and evolving third-party playback pages.
Updates for the purchased major release of LyricFloat are provided at no additional cost under your one-time purchase. However, these Terms do not create an obligation for LyricFloat to produce updates on a fixed calendar schedule, to introduce specific requested features, to maintain perpetual backward compatibility with deprecated operating systems, or to provide engineering support indefinitely. We reserve the right to determine the scope, frequency, and deployment schedule of all future software updates.
License Activation & Browser Pairing Security
To use LyricFloat after installation, you must activate your software license. Activation is initiated by providing your verified purchase email on our download page or activation interface. For your security and convenience, LyricFloat utilizes a passwordless verification system: an encrypted one-time verification code is transmitted to your registered email address, which you enter to authenticate your purchase.
Physical Device Cryptographic Identity & Handshake
During the activation process, the locally installed desktop application establishes an ephemeral cryptographic challenge with our activation endpoint to register your device. The Windows desktop application generates a local P-256 (ECDSA P-256) cryptographic device identity using native Windows secure key storage. The private P-256 device key remains strictly on your computer and is never exported, transmitted, received, or stored by LyricFloat or our servers. Activation binds your computer’s local cryptographic device identity to your purchase license, incrementing your active physical device count by one. If your purchase email is entered on an unauthorized device or your two-device activation limit has been reached, activation will not complete until an existing physical device is removed.
Browser Pairing & Local Security (127.0.0.1 / localhost)
When connecting a trusted companion browser extension to LyricFloat Desktop, the browser profile communicates across an authenticated local connection (127.0.0.1 / localhost) and pairs silently. Paired browser profiles receive a unique local pairing credential saved in extension-private/local browser storage. Each subsequent reconnection requires authenticated HMAC challenge-response verification. Up to ten (10) browser profiles may be paired per physical computer. Browser pairing is managed locally on your machine and operates independently of your physical device license count.
Device Management
LyricFloat provides a secure device-management portal for eligible customers to view and manage physical devices associated with their license after purchase and verification at lyricfloat.com/manage-devices/. Through this portal, you can view the active computers registered to your license (identified by friendly labels such as “Windows device” and registration timestamps) and initiate device removals.
To protect against unauthorized deactivations, accessing the portal and removing a device requires purchaser authorization and step-up security verification: a short-lived verification code (OTP) is sent to your registered purchase email address. Once verified, the removal operation safely deactivates the selected physical-device license authorization with Polar and Cloudflare. Removing one device frees up an activation slot only after the removal operation safely completes. Device removal is completely separate from local browser pairing removal. Removing a licensed physical device deauthorizes that specific computer installation, but does not cancel or delete your software purchase itself.
License Security
Your license key, purchase email, verification codes, and activation credentials are strictly personal to you. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your email account and verification codes, and for restricting unauthorized access to your devices. You agree to notify LyricFloat immediately at support@lyricfloat.com if you discover or suspect unauthorized access to your license or verification credentials.
LyricFloat incorporates automated cryptographic safeguards to protect license integrity and prevent software abuse. If our systems detect fraudulent payment activity, chargeback initiation, mass automated activation attempts, public key extraction, or widespread unauthorized distribution of a single license key, LyricFloat reserves the right to suspend or revoke the affected license credentials pending customer verification.
Improper Use
You agree to use LyricFloat strictly in compliance with these Terms, applicable local, national, and international laws, and customary software licensing standards. You expressly agree that you will not, directly or indirectly:
- Publish, share, distribute, resell, rent, lease, or publicly broadcast your personal license key, verification tokens, or activation files;
- Circumvent, disable, bypass, tamper with, or compromise the two-device activation limit, cryptographic challenge-response protocols, or license validation systems;
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the underlying source code of compiled binary components of LyricFloat, except to the extent that applicable law explicitly permits such activity notwithstanding this limitation;
- Modify, adapt, translate, patch, crack, or create derivative works of LyricFloat software binaries or website code;
- Distribute modified, repackaged, or pirated copies of LyricFloat through torrent networks, software archives, warez channels, or third-party marketplaces;
- Use LyricFloat to engage in fraudulent chargebacks, automated denial-of-service attacks, scraping of lyric repositories, or abusive network requests that disrupt our servers or third-party infrastructure; or
- Falsify, spoof, or manipulate device identifiers, digital signatures, local bridge credentials, or request headers transmitted to our activation, download, or management endpoints.
Violation of this section constitutes a material breach of these Terms and may result in the immediate termination of your software license without refund, as well as appropriate civil or legal remedies. If you believe your license was restricted in error, please contact our support team to resolve the matter promptly.
Intellectual Property
The LyricFloat software, including its original application source code, desktop binary architecture, overlay engine, consensus algorithms, visual typography styling presets, user interface designs, website graphics, branding marks, trade dress, icons, documentation, and digital assets, are the exclusive intellectual property of LyricFloat and its creators, protected under domestic and international copyright, trademark, trade secret, and intellectual property treaties.
All rights, title, and interest in and to LyricFloat not expressly licensed to you under Section 5 are retained exclusively by LyricFloat. You agree not to remove, obscure, alter, or deface any copyright notices, trademark symbols, or proprietary rights legends affixed to or contained within the software, website, or installation packages.
Songs, Lyrics and Third-Party Content
LyricFloat does not claim, assert, or imply any ownership, copyright, or intellectual property rights in the musical works, lyrics, sound recordings, compositions, artist names, band logos, album cover art, or video footage displayed within or processed by the application. All lyrics, song titles, artist identities, and associated media content remain the exclusive property of their respective songwriters, composers, recording artists, publishers, record labels, and copyright holders.
LyricFloat functions solely as a client-side display and synchronization tool that presents lyric text obtained from publicly accessible or authorized third-party databases on your personal screen while you listen to your own music streams. The display of lyrics within the floating overlay is intended for personal, private, educational, and reference purposes under customary fair use and private viewing principles.
Payments Through Polar
LyricFloat utilizes Polar (operated by Polar Software, Inc., located at polar.sh) as our authorized checkout platform and merchant of record / payment processor for customer purchases. When you click “Buy LyricFloat” on our website, the transaction is processed through Polar’s secure checkout infrastructure.
Polar handles payment method collection (such as credit and debit cards), payment authorization, billing address validation, applicable sales tax / VAT calculation and remittance, currency conversions, transaction fraud screening, order confirmations, and customer receipt generation. LyricFloat does not collect, receive, or store your raw credit card numbers or complete banking credentials on our servers. By completing a purchase, you agree to Polar’s terms of service and billing policies as applicable to your transaction.
Refunds
We want you to have a positive experience with LyricFloat. Because LyricFloat is digital software provided immediately upon purchase and includes full desktop access and browser integration, refund requests are evaluated in accordance with applicable consumer protection legislation and the specific circumstances of the request.
If you encounter technical difficulties, installation issues, or compatibility barriers on a supported operating system, please contact our support team at support@lyricfloat.com with your purchase email, order number, and a description of the issue. In many cases, setup adjustments or configuration guidance can quickly resolve synchronization or browser extension communication issues.
If the software cannot be made to function on your supported hardware due to a verified defect that cannot be rectified within a reasonable timeframe, or if you are entitled to a mandatory statutory withdrawal right under applicable consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction (such as statutory cooling-off periods where not lawfully waived upon digital fulfillment), we will process a full refund through Polar to your original payment method. Upon completion of a refund, the associated license key and active device activations will be promptly deactivated.
Privacy & Local Processing
Your privacy is important to us. Our collection, use, retention, and protection of personal data in connection with the LyricFloat website, customer purchases, license activation, and software operation are governed by our public Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into and forms an integral part of these Terms.
LyricFloat is intentionally architected around a clear privacy principle: LyricFloat is designed to keep normal playback synchronization and desktop/browser communication local when possible, while remote services are primarily used for purchase verification, licensing, authentication, security, and protected software delivery. Playback information communicated between your browser extension and the desktop client remains strictly on your local machine across an authenticated local connection (127.0.0.1 / localhost). Supported services include YouTube, YouTube Music, and Spotify (accessing only track title, artist name, playback position, and play/pause state). LyricFloat does not collect your full browsing history, does not inspect unrelated websites, and does not transmit continuous playback telemetry to LyricFloat servers. To fetch and synchronize lyrics, limited track metadata (such as song title, artist, and duration) may be sent directly from your computer to third-party lyric, metadata, or caption sources, without routing through LyricFloat servers. Furthermore, LyricFloat does not sell personal information and does not use purchaser or license information for third-party behavioral advertising.
Software Reliability
LyricFloat is engineered with care to provide a lightweight, responsive, and stable overlay experience across everyday computing environments. The software includes built-in safeguards to manage resource utilization gracefully during intensive gaming or productivity sessions, and to isolate background network queries from the active user interface.
However, as with all complex software running across diverse hardware configurations, operating system builds, graphic driver revisions, and anti-virus environments, occasional technical glitches or unexpected interactions with other desktop software may occur. We continuously refine the codebase to address edge cases and improve overall reliability with subsequent maintenance updates.
Compatibility
LyricFloat is designed for modern desktop operating systems and standard Chromium-based web browsers. Currently, the supported desktop operating system is 64-bit Windows (Windows 10 and Windows 11).
To use browser-based synchronization, you must install the LyricFloat companion browser extension in a compatible browser (such as Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Brave, or other Chromium-derived environments that support modern WebExtensions APIs). LyricFloat does not guarantee compatibility with obsolete operating systems (such as Windows 7, 8, or 32-bit architectures), unmaintained browser forks, or specialized virtual machine environments where hardware-accelerated window compositing is disabled.
Product Demonstrations
Our official website, marketing previews, documentation, and promotional videos may showcase demonstrations of LyricFloat in action, highlighting floating lyric presentation, font customization presets, transparency controls, and synchronization against sample music playback.
These demonstrations are provided for illustrative purposes to depict the visual features and operational capabilities of the software under realistic conditions. Actual visual rendering, lyric formatting, line transitions, and synchronization timing on your machine may vary based on your selected display settings, screen resolution, operating system scaling factors, monitor refresh rates, and the specific songs you play.
Changes to LyricFloat
Software development is an iterative and ongoing process. LyricFloat reserves the right to enhance, modify, update, adjust, or modernize features, user interface elements, visual themes, synchronization routines, and underlying technical integrations as the product matures.
We may also add support for new streaming platforms, improve matching algorithms, replace legacy data protocols, or discontinue specific integration methods if an external provider modifies its infrastructure in a way that renders a particular feature technically impractical to maintain. We endeavor to ensure that any functional adjustments maintain or improve the core lyric viewing experience of the software.
Pricing
The purchase price for a new LyricFloat license is clearly displayed on our website and during the checkout process before you confirm your order. LyricFloat reserves the right to adjust, increase, or reduce the public purchase price for new customers in the future, or to run promotional discounts, bundle offers, or regional pricing adjustments at our discretion.
If you have already purchased a LyricFloat license under this offer, any future price increase for new purchasers will not affect you. You will never be required to pay the difference or make retroactive payments simply because the public price of LyricFloat changes at a later date. Your purchase price is locked to the transaction amount agreed to at checkout.
No Subscription
We reiterate for absolute clarity: your LyricFloat purchase is not a recurring subscription. You are not entering into a recurring billing agreement, and there is no automatic annual or monthly charge attached to your purchase.
Existing customers who hold a valid license purchased under this offer will not be billed subscription fees for ordinary maintenance updates within the purchased software release. Any separate, optional future offerings or wholly distinct major products that we may release in future years would be completely optional, transparently disclosed, and would never be billed to you without your explicit, voluntary affirmative consent.
Limitation of Responsibility
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, LyricFloat, its developers, operators, contributors, affiliates, and suppliers provide the software and services on an “as is” and “as available” basis, with all faults, and without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, quiet enjoyment, and non-infringement.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall LyricFloat or its affiliates be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages whatsoever (including, without limitation, damages for loss of profits, loss of business, loss of data, business interruption, computer failure or malfunction, or personal injury) arising out of or in connection with the use of, or inability to use, LyricFloat, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
In all circumstances, LyricFloat’s total cumulative liability to you for all claims, causes of action, and damages arising out of or related to these Terms or the use of the software shall be strictly limited to the actual amount paid by you for your LyricFloat license. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or liability for incidental or consequential damages; in such jurisdictions, our liability shall be limited to the minimum extent permitted by applicable law.
Changes to These Terms
We may update, modify, or revise these Terms from time to time to reflect updates in our software, changes in our business or legal requirements, new platform capabilities, or regulatory guidance. When changes are made, we will update the version date at the bottom of this document and publish the revised Terms on our official website at lyricfloat.com/terms/.
If revisions to these Terms are material, we will provide reasonable advance notice through our website or via email to registered customer addresses where appropriate. Your continued access to or use of LyricFloat after the effective date of any revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of and agreement to the modified Terms. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you should discontinue using the software.
Consumer Rights
Nothing in these Terms is intended to limit, exclude, restrict, or modify any statutory consumer guarantees, warranty rights, or legal protections that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted, or modified under applicable national, state, or regional consumer protection legislation.
If you reside in the European Union, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, or other jurisdictions with mandatory statutory consumer protections, you retain all mandatory rights granted to you by the consumer laws of your country of residence, and these Terms shall be construed to harmonize with those mandatory legal standards.

Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our public Privacy Policy and any official purchase confirmations issued through Polar, constitute the entire, complete, and exclusive agreement between you and LyricFloat regarding your purchase, download, installation, activation, and use of LyricFloat, superseding all prior or contemporaneous discussions, agreements, representations, advertisements, or understandings, whether oral or written.
If any provision of these Terms is found by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable while maintaining its original intent, or severed if modification is not possible, and the remaining provisions of these Terms shall remain in full force and effect.
